One of the emerging trends for the upcoming holidays
this year is burnout velvets in baroque florals,
arabesques, and medallions. The richly textured,
often tone-on-tone, patterning creates a filigree look,
many times without the flashiness of beads and metallics,
that works well with many of the vintage and BoHo
silhouettes trending in fashion this year.
Beautifully worked into Art Nouveau style kimonos that
work as well over a simple t-shirt and jeans for a chic,
daytime look or paired with sleek black evening looks
for cocktails, burn out velvets also create luxurious
looks in dresses and tunics. Colors range from
classic black and navy blue to deep jewel tones such as
red, purple, and green. Most options are poly stretch
velvets or rayon velvets, but the most sumptuous burnout
velvets are silk.
