Although most formal dress shops
still stock smaller sizes exclusively, the
internet is making the latest styles and trends
available in sizes larger than 12 for more
curvaceous brides. Counter to conventional
beliefs, plus-size brides are increasingly
choosing all silhouettes, including both body
conscious dresses and the more voluminous
fairytale ball gown styles.
One of the biggest trends for

styles. Dip hem and high low styles are
beginning to trend in giving brides plenty of
opportunities to show off gorgeous shoes.
Old Hollywood glamour continues to play a role
in wedding trends with curvaceous mermaid
silhouettes continuing to be popular.
1930's influences can be seen in dresses and
gowns cut on the bias with low cut backs.
Strapless dresses continue to be a classic and
popular style, but increasingly higher necklines
and illusion sleeves are being chosen by brides
of all ages.
Some of this is the influence of
the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate
Middleton which featured a beautiful lace gown
by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen that was at
once stunning and demure. Vintage lace dresses
became instantly popular and the influence is
continuing to be felt.
Popular fabrics include
lightweight chiffon, tulle, and lace. Heavier
satin and taffeta dresses are beginning to trend
in for brides planning winter weddings. Pearls
and crystals are trending embellishments in more
elaborate gowns. Flower petal and rosette
textures can add depth and dimension to the
